In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Central, walkable base — Guest reviews say Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are about a 10-minute walk away, and the location makes it easy to explore central Rome on foot.
  • Strong staff and service — Staff score 9.0 and service 8.8, and several guest reviews highlight a friendly, attentive and helpful team.
  • Clean, freshly updated rooms — One reviewer describes the room as newly renovated and very clean, while another praises the tasteful decor of both room and hotel.
  • Reasonable value for the location — Rates start from £102 per night and guests rate value at 8.4, which balances well against the central address.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Facilities score low — Facilities rate 5.5 and comfort 6.9, the two weakest guest categories, so the hardware and public areas may not match the service levels.
  • Some rooms feel compact — A guest described their room as 'a bit small'; if space matters, this may be a consideration.
  • Limited English-language TV channels — One guest flagged few English-speaking channels, noting it seems common across Italy.
  • No pets allowed — The property policy states pets are not allowed, so travellers with animals will need other options.

“The hotel is wonderfully central for Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, and easy to get around on foot. The staff were great. The only real downside was the small number of English-language TV channels, which seems to be the norm across Italy. That aside, I would strongly recommend this boutique hotel for easy access to Rome — we even walked to the Vatican.”

8.5Verified guest

“An excellent stay in Rome. The hotel felt cosy and luxurious, and the location made it easy to explore the city on foot. The staff were excellent — polite, friendly and ready to help with anything. Our room was comfortable, clean and cosy; room 601 has a unique panoramic view. A great experience overall.”

8.5Verified guest

“Both the room and the hotel were decorated beautifully and tastefully. The location was great, a 10-minute walk from Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, and the staff were very helpful.”

“The location couldn't be better, with major sights just steps away. The staff were attentive. Breakfast offered a good selection, with plenty of fresh options to start the day. I particularly enjoyed the view from my room.”

“A nice hotel just below Piazza Barbarini. Kami Spa, one of Rome's best spas, is right in front of the hotel; you walk through Enoteca Barbarini, a decent restaurant, and out the back door to reach it. Fantastic massages, excellent decor and great service. The location is the best part — close to everything. We rented a scooter and it worked well as a base.”

8.5Verified guest

“Clean and comfortable, right in the city centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the blonde woman at breakfast, whose name I can't remember. Good pastries. We would definitely stay at Stendhal again next time we're in Rome.”
